STUDENT

STARTUP ESSENTIALS

What is Startup Essentials?

Startup Essentials is for students at Aarhus University who have an idea they would like to explore, or a startup they would like to develop further. During three workshops of three hours, we dig into the essentials of a startup. To us that means to know exactly what kind of problem/disharmony you are solving/improving, what value are you offering, and to whom. Sounds easy? Well, even experienced startups continuously strive to get to grip with these aspects. We will also work with your business model and dig into competitors/potential partners. We also know that you as a person, as an individual, is crucial to the startups. That is why we also invite you to “become personal” and look at your values, resources and aspirations both as an individual and as a team.

For early stage ideas and established startups

Startup Essentials is specifically targeted towards entrepreneurs in the early stage. You may not identify yourself as an entrepreneur, but you have an idea or conceptthat you would like to pursue–you are more than welcome. If you already have an up-and-running startup we still invite you to join because the topics touched upon are rarely solved once and for all. They are dynamic constructs that need continuous attention.

Our approach

“Uncertainty” is a central term in entrepreneurship, and you have probably already faced it: “How can I know this is the right decision to make?”, “What can I do now?”, “How much will people pay for my product/service?” Often you cannot know, but still you have to make decisions and move forward. In Startup Essentials we introduce you to principles that will help you navigate the waters of uncertainty. The workshops are practically oriented, meaning that there will be manyhands-on exercises. We expect that you are curious, engaged and that you participate actively. Also…Startups, valuation, investment, exit, unicorn… there are many buzzwords associated with entrepreneurship these days. Feel free to leave them aside, also, feel free to incorporate them if you’d like. It is up to you. There are many ways into entrepreneurship, and we will invite you to take your uniqueapproach to it
