BII Futures Grant Program
BII Futures Grant Program is a grant for Master and PhD students at Aarhus University to help them explore the potential of business ideas within life science and food tech.
Background
The BII Foundation is a Danish foundation with corporate interests. The vision of BII Foundation is to progress world-class life science innovation, by supporting early life science and food tech entrepreneurs, focusing on solutions benefitting people and society.
Purpose
The BII Futures Grant Program aims to encourage startups at Aarhus University to further explore the great potential of a business idea. This could for example be support to the development of a first prototyping, or to market exploration.
The project must be in life science: therapeutics, health tech, food tech or industrial biotechnologies.
You can apply for DKK 50,000 per year.
Who can apply?
The BII Futures Grant Program is aimed at Master and PhD students at Aarhus University (the founding team must have at least one student from Aarhus University).
We accept applications from incorporated companies or early-stage startup projects that have not yet founded a company.
The applicant must be enrolled at The Kitchen after receiving the grant.
Use of the grant money
The BII Futures Grant can cover materials, external consulting, reports/knowledge, field trials, market testing and product validation, development and test of prototype, travel expenses, and rent of lab space.
The grant cannot support research projects or development of market-ready products.

The application must use the template and be written in English to be accepted.
All applications are handled confidentially.
Application and deadlines
The next grant application deadline is 10 November 2023 at 14:00.
An external panel will screen the projects and decide which projects will be rewarded a grant.
The grant recipient will have to attend a pitch event at The Kitchen to showcase their start-up. The specific date of the pitch event is announced later. The grant recipient must fill in a short report explaining how the grant money is spend within 6 months after receiving the grant.
