“The idea of regretting not going for it scared me more than failing as an entrepreneur”

Christian Lambertsen took the leap into the world of entrepreneurship and is now co-founder of ClearContract.

In late 2023, Christian Lambertsen stood with a freshly completed master’s thesis in one hand—and a major life decision in the other. One path pointed toward a secure job and attractive salary. The other led to his lifelong dream of building something of his own. He chose the entrepreneurial route—and hasn’t looked back since.

After years of working with contracts at one of Denmark’s leading energy companies, newly graduated commercial lawyer Christian Lambertsen left the security of a stable job behind. Instead, he dove headfirst into entrepreneurship with a clear ambition: to automate and streamline legal contract work.

And while the traditional path was tempting, Christian knew deep down that the right move was to listen to himself—and have the courage to take control of the kind of working life he truly wanted.

“Of course it was tempting to take a steady job with a fixed salary, but the thought of regretting not doing it scared me more than the thought of failing as an entrepreneur,” Christian says.

Leaving the predictable behind

It was during the final stages of writing his thesis that Christian made the decision. By then, he had gained solid experience with legal contract work and could already glimpse a full-time position on the horizon. But the growing urge to build something from scratch quickly overshadowed the prospect of a predictable future.

“I’d been thinking about it for a while, and I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t give it a shot. I didn’t have a house, kids, or any debt, so I thought—if not now, then when?” he says.

Shortly after, Christian posted on LinkedIn in search of a technical sparring partner. The post caught the attention of Jørgen Højlund, who was just finishing his master’s in Cognitive Science. The two quickly clicked, and it wasn’t long before Jørgen transitioned from part-time collaborator to co-founder and CTO of the newly formed startup.

“Christian is deeply passionate about law and user needs. I’m driven by technology and the potential of language models, so it felt natural to split the roles that way. And we both share the dream of building something ourselves, so we’re a great match,” Jørgen explains.

Giving Legal Professionals Their Time Back

ClearContract is built for anyone working with contracts—whether heavily or just occasionally. The platform brings together contract management, AI-assisted document review, and automation in a single solution. For instance, users can upload a contract and have it analyzed against a checklist to instantly spot what’s missing.

But for the founders, it’s never just been about building tech. It’s about democratizing legal work and making it more accessible—regardless of background or education.

“We’re creating a tool that both lawyers and non-lawyers can use,” says Christian. “A CFO, a CEO, or a procurement manager might have tons of contract experience—they just lack the right tools.”

He explains that the vision is to free up legal professionals to focus on the work that actually demands their expertise.

“It’s about building the automation that’s needed—so legal professionals can spend time on what truly requires human judgment, not on routine tasks that can be handled by machines.”

The right call

It’s now been almost a year since Christian and Jørgen committed to building the next-generation AI tool for legal contract work.

With the freedom to shape their own workdays—and a platform already used by real customers—they’re both confident that choosing the entrepreneurial path was the right decision.

“It definitely took a lot of consideration and a good dose of courage to take the leap. But we’re working on something we genuinely care about, and we know this can make a real difference for a lot of people. That’s incredibly motivating,” Christian concludes.
