The Kitchen Expands with Office Community for Viable Startups
On June 1, The Kitchen opens the doors to a brand new initiative, Level2 – an office community for graduated student entrepreneurs and startups from the ecosystem.
The Kitchen houses more than 150 entrepreneurs emanating from Aarhus University. Student startups, recent graduates and researchers. A free office space is of utmost importance for these startups to be able to carry through a full time study while running their businesses.
But when graduation comes, the situation changes. The startups will have to find another office on market terms. However, the rent is quite an enormous entry for these startups who are just about to enter the market as full time business owners.
Therefore, The Kitchen presents Level2 – an office community close to the unique ecossystem in The Kitchen with offices at a very good price.
”Level2 is a unique opportunity for us to be able to stay close to important ressources and our network which is crucial at this point in our startup journey. Also, we are not able to pay a lot for our office at this point since we are not able to pay ourselves yet,” says Nikolaj Schlüter and Anders Winnderskjold who are the founders behind Elevaid.
Elevaid is rethinking how to reduce dropouts from the Danish high schools by offering free psycological aid to stressed out students. Elevaid pairs psychology students with high school students for a number of online sessions which is all paid for by their high schools. The high schools benefit from this by having fewer dropouts which saves them a lot of money.
Elevaid is currently carrying out their first collaboration with Viby Gymnasium.
An Office Community to Support the Ecosystem
Besides from helping out student startups on the verge to become viable, Level2 aim to further strengthen the unique ecosystem that exists in The Kitchen.
By keeping more experienced entrepreneurs in the close-by environment, the aspirational student startups can take advantage of all the valuable know-how that more experienced startups have.
”Not only do the more experiences startups have a lot of valuable knowledge, they also have access to an amazing network that might be pivotal for some of the newer entrepreneurs,” Jakob Søndergaard, head of site in The Kitchen.
Level2 have space for 30 startups.
